The Trinity Town Mayor and Council met at a regularly scheduled meeting at the Trinity Municipal Building February 12, 2024 with Mayor Goodwin calling the meeting to order at 5:36 p.m.  Members present were Beth Burden, Mayor Vaughn Goodwin, Lainie Alexander, Jared Terry, and Gordon Burden.  Absent was Brandi Logston.

 

Motion made to approve the minutes of the Work Session January 22, 2024 by Lainie with a 2nd by Beth.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve the minutes of the Council Meeting January 22, 2024 by Beth with a 2nd by Lainie.  All voted yes.

Motion to pay the attached bills in the amount of $ 32,878.55 by Jared with a 2nd by Lainie.  All voted yes.

Motion made to rescind the motion from the previous meeting to allow the Mayor to sign a contract with 120 water by Beth with a  2nd by Jared.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve annual payment of $1200.00 to Barry & Kathy Owens for lease of pump station property by Jared with a 2nd by Lainie.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve hiring Heather Hood as a permanent full time employee with a .50 cent raise by Beth with a 2nd by Lainie.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve $2500.00 to Goodwin Mills to perform a survey to establish property lines in relation to the pickleball court planning by Gordon with a 2nd by Jared.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve Resolution 2024-02 Revising regularly scheduled council meeting times by Beth with a 2nd by Lainie.   Voting yes was Beth, Mayor Goodwin, Jared, Lainie, and Gordon.  Voting no were none.

Motion made to approve $3,915.00 to Traveler’s Insurance for a one year CyberRisk Policy with an aggregate limit of $1,000,000 by Jared with a 2nd by Lainie.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve reimbursing $164.00 to RainTree Sprinkler Systems for their 2024 business license purchased in error (RainTree meant to purchase a license for Triana) by Gordon with a 2nd by Jared.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve $2939.31 to purchase 250,000 4 cent tobacco tax stamps by Jared with a 2nd by Gordon.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve $1000.00 Silver Sponsorship to the Morgan County Schools Foundation as a sponsor of the Morgan County Leadership Hall of Fame by Gordon with a 2nd by Lainie.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve paying $28,701.00 to Temple, Inc. out of the American Rescue Fund for the purchase of a solar school speed limit sign by Jared with a 2nd by Gordon.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve paying $420.00 to Alabama 811 for annual dues by Jared with a 2nd by Lainie.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve paying up to $6,000 to Nikki Warren (NW Paints)  for artwork and materials on the silos to come out of the American Rescue Fund after the property line determination by Goodwin Mills by Jared with a 2nd by Beth.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve paying $400.00 to the FOP for membership of 8 officers with the approval of Larry by Jared with a 2nd by Gordon.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve $258,000 to purchase water pumps for the pump station with $225,000 of that coming from the grant from Morgan County by Gordon with a 2nd by Jared.  All voted yes.

Members discussed who would be available to attend the State of Morgan County.  Members were also given a copy of Ordinance 2024-02 for guidelines on the Pretrial diversion program.  Mayor Goodwin also discussed plans for taking back the ballfields after the current season.
