The Town of Trinity Mayor and Council met at a regularly scheduled meeting in the Trinity Municipal Building March 25, 2024 with the meeting being called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Mayor Vaughn Goodwin.

 

Members present were Beth Burden, Brandi Logston, Mayor Vaughn Goodwin, Lainie Alexander, Jared Terry, and Gordon Burden.  Absent were none.

 

Motion made to approve the minutes of the Work Session March 11, 2024 by Jared with a 2nd by Gordon.  Voting yes were Beth, Mayor Goodwin, Jared, and Gordon.  Lainie and Brandi abstained.

Motion made to approve the minutes of the Council Meeting March 11, 2024 by Gordon with a 2nd by Jared.  Voting yes were Beth, Mayor Goodwin, Jared, and Gordon.  Lainie and Brandi abstained.

Motion made to pay the attached bills in the amount of $40543.22 by Beth with a 2nd by Lainie.  All voted yes.

Motion made to take into immediate consideration Ordinance 2024-01 Floodplain Development Ordinance by Jared with a 2nd by Gordon.  Voting yes were Beth, Brandi, Mayor Goodwin, Lainie, Jared, and Gordon.  Voting no were none.

Motion made to approve Ordinance 2024-01 Floodplain Development Ordinance by Brandi with a 2nd by Jared. Voting yes were Beth, Brandi, Mayor Goodwin, Lainie, Jared, and Gordon.  Voting no were none.

Motion made to take into immediate consideration Ordinance 2024-03 Establishing Working Hours for Non-Emergency Work on Public Rights-of-Way, Streets, and Roadways by Beth with a 2nd by Brandi.     Voting yes were Beth, Brandi, Mayor Goodwin, Lainie, Jared, and Gordon.  Voting no were none.

Motion made to approve or deny Ordinance 2024-03 Establishing Working Hours for Non-Emergency Work on Public Rights-of-Way, Streets, and Roadways by Brandi with a 2nd by Jared.  Voting yes were Beth, Brandi, Mayor Goodwin, Lainie, Jared, and Gordon.  Voting no were none.

Motion made to approve paying $4,000.00 to DLC Tree Services, LLC for the removal of 2 trees at Caboose Park by Jared with a 2nd by Brandi.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve 2024-2025 MOU between Trinity Police Department and the Morgan County Board of Education for the School Resource Officer Program by Lainie with a 2nd by Jared.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve Chief Hughes attending the Alabama Association of School Resource Officer conference June 2-7, 2024 (Morgan County Board of Education will cover all costs, Chief Hughes is only requesting to use patrol vehicle) by Jared with a 2nd by Lainie.  All voted yes.

Motion to approve Vaughn Goodwin and Blaine Clark attending the Gulf Coast Technical Training Conference May 22-May 24 2024 (Lodging 1802.64, per diem $352, registration TBA) by Beth with a 2nd by Lainie.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve a new police vehicle from the state bid for approximately $50,000.00 by Jared with a 2nd by Gordon.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve paying $1,000.00 for a sponsorship to the West Morgan football program by Lainie with a 2nd by Jared.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve Cedric Jeffrey attending Lighthorse Tactical’s Cullman training with the Town covering the cost of ammo and a vehicle by Jared with a 2nd by Brandi.  All voted yes.

Motion made to approve annually sending one officer (determined by competitive training done by the department) for the cost of $1200.00 for one week in Anniston by Jared with a 2nd by Brandi.  All voted yes.

Chief Hughes updated the Council that PD activity is expected to increase due to the influx of traffic on the Town’s roadways.

***Reminders***  PUD Public Hearing April 1st;  2024 Spring Clean Up April 8 – 12, Shells & Tails April 26;  Statement of Economic Interest due 4/30/24, Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday – July 19-21st,  Trinityfest – Oct 6th

Motion to adjourn by Brandi with a 2nd by Lainie  at 5:48 p.m.  All voted yes.
